$100 HST cheques in the mail
Wow...what a joke... we must behave like imbeciles to be treated like imbeciles.
Where does municipal, provincial and federal money come from? you and I taxpayers..where else???
Can you imagine how much these 3 $100 cheques over the next year are costing the taxpayers, my guess $500 to each of us.
BTW those large coffees some of us get every morning and afternoon from Timmys will cost us,in one year, an extra $88.76
in extra taxes(8%more)alone, that's just coffee.
Oh well....squeezing every penny they can out of us poor helpless suckers hey?

When it comes to PHARMACARE, HEALTH CARE REFORM, IMPROVED MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES & POVERTY REDUCTION, I like to quote Edward Kennedy: "The Work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dream shall never die."

Disturbing videos played in court during sentencing hearing
CRIME: Clips 'worst' investigator has ever seen

I am completely appalled that your publication would post such graphic details from this disgusting video. There was absolutely no need to narrate the reaction of this poor infant as she was being raped!

Shame on you!! How is this any better than some pervert watching this child being exploited?? The article could most definitely been published without this horrible detail!

This world is far to desensitized and often lacks compassion for victims of abuse. Publishing this in a newspaper that is available in library's where children may have access is irresponsible on your part.

This is the most horrific thing that I have ever seen published in a local newspaper! Unbelievable!

Again... shame on you!

RE: Curious Guergis firing raises bigger questions
Welcome to the real world. This kind of behavior happens all the time. What should happen is that when the paper work goes for review by unemployment then they see something wrong they should go after the employer for wrongful dismals. Not the employee who doesn't have the funds, the resources or the knowledge that something was done illegal. Myself have been there 1. was let go because they thought I would be happier elsewhere of course they would not put this on the pink slip. But I did under my remarks for reason for dismal 2. no reason given (under probationary period) and this was after I brought up a few safety issues (makes you think) 3. Government Grant was finished so they let me go and hired a friend (their loss). Looks like the government officials are getting a taste of what goes on out in the real world. I do agree that this topic needs to be addressed.

RE: Chamber raises reasons for people to shop locally.
How about if the Chamber talks to the Local merchants about not gouging the Canadian consumer. Why would you not cross the border when you can buy turkey a for .29 cents a pound or milk for .99 cents a gallon. etc... I understand the government has some control over this so why doesn't the chamber talk to the officials on this matter instead of the consumer who is just trying to live. This also reminds me of a letter that was written at one time of a lady who needed a pool liner went to the states and after exchange, taxes and duty paid $500 for one that was made in Hamilton and when she asked a retailer why he was charging $1200 he said because I can. Need I say more.

I have just read the article about arches that Mordechai Grun wants erected in the Queen St Area to attract people to the "historic Niagara" area. Ummmmm were the moneys given to the city not earmarked for infrastucture work ?? That being the work already underway to the sewers and water mains in the doentown area. It seems to me that erecting cosmetic arches hardly falls into the area of infrarstructure and should be used precisely for that .. INFRASTUCTURE.... NOT SOME COSMETIC FIX AT 15 SELECTED INTERSECTIONS. Are there even 15 intersections in downtown ?? I can only think of......7 along Queen St.. The money was given to the city by the Feds for specific work....Pay for your own arches and leave my tax money alone !!!!!! Or put in a McDonalds .....

Beautiful words
Live a Life That Matters
Ready or not, someday it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours, or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.
Your wealth, fame, and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear.
So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire.
The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.
It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived, at the end.
It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant
Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.
So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?
What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success, but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
What will matter is not your competence, but your character.
What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone.
What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters.

I am appalled that it has been found neccessary to increase th pay of CEO;s (already getting $300,000.00 + to do a job that should be required of all executives ,i.e. set up quality control and performance reviews, and ensure improvements. The CEO;s should be the first to work on improving the situations at our hospitals.
