Five arrested in violent Welland home invasion

WELLAND – Five males, on of them an alleged young offender, have been charged by Niagara police in connection with a violent home invasion that sent one man to hospital.

On Thursday, Oct. 29, at approximately 10 p.m., a group of male suspects went to a Duncan St. address in Welland. They forced entry into the residence and confronted the victim. The victim was subsequently assaulted and sustained serious injuries.

An undisclosed amount of property was removed from the residence by the suspects.

The accused adult males have been identified as: Greg Mitchell, 20; Kyle Spraggett-Stockton, 20; Colton Watson, 18; and Mark Cupola, 18, all of Welland.

They have all been charged with robbery, break and enter and aggravated assault.

Along with the four adults, one youth male was identified, arrested and charged with break and enter, aggravated assault and robbery. Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the male youth is being withheld.

Investigation has determined that this incident is not a random act, said police.
